What drew you into the spark philanthropy model?
In order to understand what citizens want and need in their communities, you have to go to the people and start a conversation. Residents know what transformations they do and do not want. Some of the strongest people I have ever encountered in my career through the City of Ottawa and the government, are community advocates. I value resident-led, grassroots initiatives, which is what spark is all about. With spark, I have seen community renewal happen first-hand and I believe that approach is very important. It’s great being part of a group that shares my values on creating lasting, positive change.
Why would you recommend spark?
If you practice purposeful living and want to make a difference in the community in a very tangible way, you will fit right in with the remarkable women leaders in spark. I always look forward to our regular meetings and the time we invest in helping priority neighbourhoods in Ottawa. Come to one of our meetings and ask questions of our members. You will feel this energy when you walk in the room. We are a welcoming group, and would love for you to join us.
